Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence will host a one day Healthy Advocate Institute for certified domestic violence center staff. This training will discuss vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and self-care strategies, with emphasis on utilizing trauma-informed practices to strengthen survivor and advocate resiliency. Advocates will create a Burnout Prevention & Self Care Plan.
The program will occur from 9:00am-4:00pm, with an hour lunch break.
A yoga session will be offered onsite free of charge prior to the training. Please bring your own yoga mat to participate if you have one and are able to do so. If not, one will be provided to you.
The Healthy Advocate Institute will commence the Healthy Advocate Initiative, a twelve-week event starting January 13th through March 29th, 2020. During the initiative, advocates are encouraged to take the time to do something positive for their health or wellbeing. Whether it is beginning an exercise program, choosing healthy meals and snacks, quitting smoking, increasing financial health, or simply investing in a few minutes to breathe and focus on themselves; the goals are always individualized to meet personal self-identified needs and consider the need for self-care. More information about the Healthy Advocate Initiative will be released soon.
