Domestic violence survivors and their children living in rural areas have historically been creative at managing scarce resources. However, limited resources often create significant barriers to safety. Particularly when resources are needed to fill voids for transportation, housing, and health care for survivors. Further, rural advocacy programs provide services in areas of vast geographical distance with uncertain resources.
This webinar will provide an opportunity for advocacy programs in Florida to learn about the most common and the most unique strategies rural advocacy programs across the country have developed to meet transportation needs of survivors. Participants will also explore the ways in which the range of strategies can center the needs of survivors and transportation barriers in Florida. A facilitated discussion will also provide the opportunity for participants to learn from each and discuss transportation remedies used in their local area.
