In this interactive training, participants will expand their knowledge of cultural competency as it relates to themselves and working with survivors of domestic violence. Through the exploration of core “dimensions of diversity” such as race, ethnicity and gender, participants will examine how service providers can create inclusive teams to best serve all survivors of domestic violence. Participants will also define and discuss micro-aggressions, the relationship between cultural competency and professionalism, and storytelling as a method of enacting social justice. Throughout the presentation activities such as introspection, deep listening, group discussion and writing will be used to help participants gain knowledge about themselves and their relationships with differing aspects of culture.
