Job Title:  Child Protective Investigative Advocate (CPI)

Reports To:  Children Services Manager

Salary:  Commensurate with experience 

Days/Hours:  Monday – Friday, Full time 40 hours per week to include some flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Workplace Location(s):  Based at Broward Sheriff Office with regular travels to Broward County Courthouses, law enforcement agencies, and other locations.


  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in social service field with personal or work experience in domestic violence.
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Valid Florida’s driver’s license. Safe driving record. Proof of automobile liability insurance.
  • Must have flexibility in working evenings and weekends.

General Job Description:

The position serves as the expert on child welfare-involved domestic violence cases and helps build the capacity of child welfare professionals to partner with survivors and hold batterers accountable.

The CPI Advocates will provide crisis de-escalation, safety planning, counseling, social service referrals, and advocacy as well as, registration services to survivors of domestic violence at Broward Sheriff’s Office, a Community Based Care Provider, other partner sites and at Women In Distress’ main campus. Also, the CPI Advocate will provide consultation to Broward Sheriff’s Office staff and partner agency staff on domestic violence cases as well as host training's centered on the dynamics of domestic violence, batterer accountability and safety planning.

CPI Advocates will provide assistance to survivors who are involved in court proceedings: e.g., orientation to procedures, emotional support, and attend court hearings. CPI Advocates will review confidential victim referrals submitted by CPI for the purpose of providing and/or coordinating case consultation services, assists in the plan to link the participant to crisis intervention, emotional support, short term counseling, financial assistance, shelter, or other related assistance as indicated.

The CPI Advocates will also be required to participate in all training's and in quarterly conference calls facilitated by FCADV that is related to the CPI project. CPI Advocate will attend community service provider meetings and community action team meetings as required.
