Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, FCADV, works towards ending domestic violence through public awareness, policy development, creation of standards, provision of funding, and support for Florida's domestic violence centers. Serving Florida's 42 domestic violence centers, FCADV operates Florida's toll-free domestic violence hotline
(1-800-500-1119), maintains a resource library, and develops posters, brochures, safety plans, and other resources.

Updated Effective Advocacy Training Series

FCADV has updated our Effective Advocacy Training Series with 9 new on-site trainings. These trainings are intended to provide information and skills supporting effective advocacy. Request one or more of FCADV's 23 advocacy trainings at our Assistance Request page. Upon invitation, FCADV provides free on-site trainings for Florida's 42 certified domestic violence center/shelter staff and volunteers.

FCADV's Rural Training Institute brings together advocates and practitioners working to protect battered women and their children in rural communities. The institute offers a wide array of speakers and is designed to help domestic violence advocates, professionals and community members work together to end violence against women. FCADV's Mellie McDaniel Award is presented to an outstanding law enforcement professional responding to domestic violence in rural communities. This individual is an officer or a victim advocate affiliated with a law enforcement agency, and is someone who has greatly impacted the field of domestic violence with his or her unyielding compassion and integrity. Awards will be presented at the FCADV Rural Training Institute, Behind Closed Doors XI - Breaking the Silence in Rural Communities on May 6, 2008, at Chipola College in Marianna, Florida.
