Advocacy, Safety and Technology
This course will educate victim advocates about technology risks and benefits for domestic violence and stalking survivors. Advocates will learn safety planning and evidence collection strategies for survivors who use the internet, phone technology, email and social networking sites, and community databases. Discussion will also include: surveillance equipment, data collection/hacking, and assistive technology for people with disabilities. Non-technical language will be used to describe the privacy levels of each area and how to safely navigate the world of technology while keeping victims and survivors safe.
